Tips for New Musicians and Bands
Are you new to the music world? How do you get started? Where should you spend your money? How does your gear work? It’s never been easier to be in a band and there’s also a lot of conflicting information out there. This workshop is designed to help you navigate the maze of rock music and give you a head start on being a great band.
Brooks Harlan plays guitar in War On Women and bass / keyboards in the J. Robbins band. He has 20+ years of tour experience playing in and working for bands. Brooks is an accomplished studio engineer, live sound engineer, stage manager, backline tech and guitar tech. Clients and tour mates include At The Drive-In, Sparta, Propagandhi, Sleepercar, Coldplay, Dismemberment Plan, FLAG, Wye Oak, Refused, Beach House, Animal Collective, Anti-Flag, Leftover Crack and many more. He is the owner and operator of Big Crunch Amp Repair - a repair, modification and guitar amplifier building shop in Baltimore, Maryland. Brooks holds a degree in music composition from Texas Tech University, is an exercise enthusiast, a vegan and an avid board gamer.
